About Maasai Mara

The Maasai Mara National Reserve is located in southwestern Kenya, bordering Tanzania's Serengeti National Park. It is one of the most famous and important wildlife conservation areas in Africa.

The reserve is best known for the Great Migration, where millions of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles cross from the Serengeti into the Mara in search of fresh grazing. This spectacular event typically occurs from July to October.

The Mara is home to the "Big Five" — lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and rhino — as well as cheetahs, hyenas, giraffes, hippos, and over 450 bird species. Hot air balloon safaris offer a magical sunrise perspective of the reserve.
